I’m back in my Bozeman, Montana home office after a couple of months in Maine — and things are about to get busy.  In just a few days, my sister Darcy and her husband Rob land at BZN for a 9-day visit.  And we’re packing those days full.

Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Glacier are on the list, plus some of the incredible small towns and hidden gems near Bozeman.  There are a lot.

So… am I on vacation?   Sort of.  But not really.

Here’s the deal: Most of Montana and Wyoming have spotty (or zero) cell coverage.  The towns (mostly no towns) are too small for the carriers to care.  But I’m ready for that.  I’ve got a Starlink Mini mounted to the car with a magnetic roof rack.  These things were built for the off-grid, on-the-go, adventure professional lifestyle — and they deliver.

I’ve been to Yellowstone and Grand Teton more times than I can count.  And I still love it.  Sometimes you see the same things.  Other times?  You’re suddenly face-to-face with a bear or watching a pack of wolves move through the valley.  It never gets old.

With my Starlink, I can take calls, answer emails, even trade if needed — all from the car.  It’s $50/month for 50GB of data.  As long as I’m not streaming movies (which I’m not), that’s more than enough to run the business.

Fingers crossed for a quiet market and smooth sailing on the client service front.  But if things heat up, I’ll be ready.  It just might mean ducking into the car for a few hours or working while someone else drives.

Also, creating content for this blog is a big part of my job — so technically, this is work.  Cool job right?  To stay creative, I need a stocked pantry: photos, videos, stories.  This trip will deliver.

Darcy and Rob are going to love Montana.  They run a horse farm in Maine, and Darcy’s basically an animal whisperer.  She’s happiest around horses — or any creature, really.  This is going to be fun.

Rob and Darcy are a perfect example of creative entrepreneurialism — a term I use to describe people who blend imagination, design, and business instinct to build something original.  Together, they own and operate Burano’s Wood-Fired Pizza, with locations in Bath and Hallowell, Maine.  Rob is constantly rethinking what pizza can be, bringing unexpected creativity to every pie.  Darcy shapes the spaces with her interior design skills and sharp aesthetic, turning each location into an experience.  They’re not just running a business — they’re redefining what a pizza place can be.  If you haven’t been yet, go.

In another post, I’ll break down the gear I bring to stay connected while staying wild.

There’s a lot. Stay tuned.
