🌎 Do I have to live in Maine or Montana to hire you?
No. I can work with clients in all 50 states. International clients are sometimes possible depending on local regulations, so reach out and we can explore your situation.
💻 Do we have to meet in person?
Not at all. I work virtually with many of my clients through secure video calls and encrypted document sharing. If you prefer, I’m always open to meeting in person when logistics allow.
💰 How do you get paid?
I’m a fiduciary, fee-only advisor — meaning I’m paid directly by my clients, not by commissions or product sales. I charge a small percentage based on the assets I manage for you; between 1.0% and 1.50%). I am fully transparent and aligned with your best interests.
📞 How do I reach you once I’m a client?
I use an integrated system that alerts me instantly to client calls and messages — whether I’m at my desk, on my iPhone, or working remotely. You’ll always know how to reach me.
💵 Do you have an account minimum?
Most of my clients invest $500,000 or more, but that’s not a hard rule. What matters most to me is mindset and value alignment – a willingness to learn, grow, and follow a plan. I love working with people who have dreams and the drive to achieve them.
📈 What is your financial planning process?
I outline my exact process in my Financial Planning Made Simple series. It’s the same framework I used to go from a negative net worth of –$135,000 at age 40 to financial freedom today. We’ll walk through those same steps together — from clarity to execution.
🧾 Will you charge a separate fee for my financial plan?
- If you invest $500,000+, your plan is included at no extra cost.
- If you invest under $500,000, I charge a $500 initial planning fee.
Future updates are $250.
🤔 Why are your plans so much less expensive than other advisors’?
Because my goal isn’t to maximize fees — it’s to maximize your potential. I charge nominal planning fees to cover my time while keeping it accessible. It’s my way of giving back and helping others get where I am today.
🏡 Where is your office?
My firm has offices in Portland and Brunswick, Maine, and I’m always happy to meet clients there. Most days, I work from my home offices in Freeport, Maine and Bozeman, Montana — or sometimes from the road.
In Montana, I even have a Starlink Mini mounted to my Subaru Crosstrek so I can trade and take calls deep in the wilderness.
In Maine, I rely on the solid coverage we already enjoy.
💫 What’s your philosophy about money?
Money is stored energy. You trade time and effort for dollars — and when you invest wisely, you’re saving that energy for future use. A good plan channels that energy with purpose so your life stays aligned with your values.
🎯 What’s the best way to achieve my goals?
- Get clear on what you truly want. Live for yourself — not for what others expect. Designing your own life is the ultimate creative act.
- Build a financial plan and put it on autopilot. Over time, your dollars compound, and like a boat rising to plane, momentum takes over. The more you build, the easier it gets.
🏔️ What do you like to do when you’re not working?
Adventure. I love exploring, hiking, wildlife spotting, and skiing through Montana winters. Between Maine’s coastlines and Montana’s mountains, I already have more than enough wilderness to explore.
✍️ Why did you start the Mainer Montanan blog?
To give back — especially to creatives, entrepreneurs, and anyone chasing financial independence. Writing lets me combine both sides of my brain: creative storytelling and analytical problem-solving. I also love the technical side — running WordPress, testing plugins, and diving into Google Analytics to see what resonates.
